Studying at IHM
Study at IHM
At IHM, you’ll be part of one of Australia’s most innovative healthcare education institutes. Supported by our dynamic and growing Faculty of Medicine and Healthcare, we lead world-class education and research that drives improvements in healthcare services and systems both in Australia and worldwide.
Our commitment to student success extends beyond the classroom. We provide comprehensive support services and actively listen to our students’ feedback, ensuring their voice shapes our educational environment.
To share your ideas, help shape the student community and help us serve you better, you are invited to join the student representative council at your own campus!
Make your mark on campus by joining the Student Representative Council (SRC). As a vital link between students and institute leadership, the SRC brings together student representatives from each intake, working alongside our Campus Manager, Student Support staff, and Course Coordinator.
At IHM, your perspective matters. We value student input across all aspects of our operations, making the SRC a strategic platform for meaningful dialogue and positive change. Together, we’re building a stronger, more responsive educational community.
As a member of the SRC, you will:
- Proactively engage with all students and note down their viewpoint, issues and suggestions for improvements and compliments
- Contribute to the Institute’s creation of policies and services that benefit students and improve the quality of learning and research
- Assist in the distribution of feedback to students and the dissemination of Institute activities stemming from student feedback
- May establish student working groups to help the Institute develop or improve programmes and increase student participation in campus activities
- Discuss IT-related issues with management, as well as ways to improve the digital experience for IHM students
- Promote student surveys and address issues raised
- Be involved in organising cultural activities and sporting events that involve students and our staff
- IHM also provides academic and learning support for students through our journal club and language club
Student Support
You will also have access to 24/7 student support as well as daily updates and information about campus life, activities, industry updates, emergency alerts and much more via our student intranet.
Surveys and Student Feedback
We conduct regular surveys of students about student and campus life, any challenges and we love to hear about your successes. We hold regular student discussions as we are continually updating and improving our services for students.
Ways to Study
Students at the IHM can study in one of two ways: online or on-campus. Online courses allow students to study at their own pace and in their own location, making them ideal for people who are unable to attend face-to-face classes. IHM’s online classes are interesting and informative. Students can also use virtual discussion boards to communicate with professors and classmates to clear up any doubts. On-campus students can participate in face-to-face learning in a typical classroom setting while also taking advantage of e-Learning technology to supplement their classroom experience.

Education Services For Overseas Students Framework (ESOS)
The Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework safeguards the rights of international students studying in Australia.
Australia provides rigorous protection for international students through the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) legislation, which requires institutions that provide education to international students to meet nationally consistent standards in education delivery, facilities and services. Breaches of the Act are treated seriously, and the penalties can be significant.
All institutions wanting to deliver courses to international students in Australia must be registered on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and meet special registration conditions.
The National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018 provides nationally consistent standards for the conduct of registered providers and the registration of their courses.
The standards set out specifications and procedures to ensure that registered providers of education and training courses can clearly understand and comply with their obligations under the National Code.
