BIO
Ingrid Anne Hahne is an experienced Nurse Educator with a robust foundation in clinical nursing spanning over three decades. Beginning her nursing career in January 1992, she has accumulated extensive experience across multiple healthcare specialties including oncology, palliative care, emergency medicine, intensive care, and nursing education. Her clinical practice has enabled her to observe the evolution of nursing and witness the integration of evidence-based practice across diverse specialty areas.
With advanced qualifications including a Masters of Nursing from Monash University and specialized postgraduate credentials in cancer nursing, Ingrid brings both depth of clinical expertise and academic rigor to her current role as a Nurse Educator. Throughout her career, she has worked across several prestigious Australian healthcare institutions, including The Alfred Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Frankston Hospital, Epworth Hospital, and other leading tertiary and specialized centres. Her experience encompasses bedside nursing in oncology and palliative care units, emergency department management, intensive care nursing, and most recently, sessional education delivery at a university level.
Ingrid’s research interests focus on therapeutic communication skills education for undergraduate nursing students and communication challenges faced by family members of end-of-life patients in acute care settings. She has contributed to significant institutional work, including serving as a member of the Domestic Violence Taskforce team that completed an important report on assessment and management of suspected intimate partner violence victims in the emergency department, conducted jointly with Monash Health and Monash University. Her professional memberships include Palliative Care Victoria and the Australian College of Nurses (ACN).
